3rd Bomb Group Charters Towers Commemoration

BTC  History  students attended the Commemoration of the 3rd Bomb Group  monument at the Charters Towers Airport. After the welcome by Mayor, Ben Callcott, the Consulate General Niels Marquardt from USA addressed the gathering. He was humbled by the monument to commemorate the American 3rd Bomb Group which was stationed at and flew out of Charters Towers in WW2. He and Colonel Martin Winkler and Wing Commander Paul Aggett(who flew down from Japan) then unveiled the dedications on the monument. Finally, the monument was blessed by Father Emmerson. The students were fortunate to talk with the American Consulate General  before the Senior Modern History class,Mr Sutcliffe and Mr Hansen joined the dignitaries for lunch.
