Secondary Interschool Swimming Carnival

The first event of the Interschool  Swimming Carnival , the 200m freestyle, was swum Wednesday night, with the rest of the Carnival being swum Thursday evening. First race of the night saw BTC's  13 yr old Keesha Whyte race away to a convincing win with Raven Guy  swimming well to place 6th. The 13 yr old boys, who have a tough competition to swim in,  touched 5th (Lachlan Corrigan) and 6th (Hayden Lang). In the 14yrs girls Madi Smith swam neck and neck with CCC before pulling away in the last 50m to claim 1st place while Jemimah Phillott swam well to touch 7th. Hayden Kettunen (6th) and Colin Rayment (7th) put in a great effort in the 14yrs boys. Disappointingly NO 15Yrs girls  fronted up to swim for their College but in true College spirit the 15 yrs boys didn't let us down. Darcy Ginns-Larkin , who had been sick that day, turned up to swim and Ben Smith received an ovation from many spectators because of his gutsy swim. Darcy, with  very little energy left, fought off a challenge by CCC in the last 15 m   to claim a 1st place while Ben was rewarded with a 5th place. Elissa Masterson forgot about her sore arm  to touch 3rd while Sally Carrington claimed 4th in the 16 yr old girls. In the boys event Harrison Phillott swam a great race to touch 3rd while Toby Paynter clung on to claim 6th. The Open girls swam well to record a 4th (Jess Batt) and a 6th (Stella Batt) while the boys had the crowd on their feet as they produced at 1,2 finish.  Callum Smith touched  1st and watched  a huge battle for 2nd between Harry Campbell and ASSG with Harry touching 2nd by  milliseconds.

BTC Boarders Talent Night

Wednesday 25 January Day One- Term1….and so began another year- BTC in 2012.

First day back saw our seniors inducted followed by our school timetables and straight into prep after dinner.

Boarding life is a busy life and a full social life is offered on the weekends.

Our first weekend back was a closed weekend and we had our very own BTC talent night with our very own hosts Stella Batt and Ross Leggett.

The boys outshone the girls with their performances and were very entertaining. A special mention must go to the Boy’s Dorm Muncho Men and their take on YMCA and the Village People and also Roy Fisher who bravely took on a watermelon with his head (SAY NO MORE)
The highlight of the night and the finale was Jess Batt and Ben Kennedy singing a duet of 4 chords.

Special thanks go to our residential photographers  Melanie Jones and Sam Hinz for supplying us with these photos.
Other activities on offer include a night at the Yak Shack, Skate Night at the PCYC and Movies at the World Theatre.
The weekend of 18 February included a shopping trip to Townsville  followed by a visit to Riverway before heading back to Charters Towers for the Valentines dance.
We also have our standard activities on the oval which includes the pool for swimming and movies in Red dorms Saturday nights or Sunday afternoons.
Boys and girls dorms have both received new mattresses for the new students, to welcome them into the fold and next term we are looking forward, with excitement and anticipation, to our new curtains which have been ordered for our personal areas and common rooms. Supplied to us the P&F and for that a big thank you to P&F on behalf of all the students in boarding for your kind generosity and support.
