Commemorative Day and Colours Assembly

Students, staff, and guests gathered at Assembly to commemorate 95 years since Blackheath and Thornburgh College started. Mr Fairbairn talked of the first lessons being under the fig tree and highlighted the fact that out current Year 7's will be the seniors when BTC celebrates 100 years. Mr Norm Wallace, past student and teacher, described his early days at BTC especially when World War II was threatening North Qld. The description of the rifle range using  real bullets and artillery on the oval,  tweaked many an imagination. Mrs Schulz, past student and current teacher, also told stories of her time as a new  day student at the predominately boarding schooland her teachers Mr Wallace, Ms Landsberg  and Mrs Robb.
Half colours and Full colours were presented by Mr Mark Crawley  and Mr Fairbairn to students from Semester One activities.  Sean Tria entertained the assembly again with his talent on the piano. Madi Smith was acknowledged for her  Pierre de Coubertin Award which will presented in Brisbane in July.
Finally the BTC birthday cake was cut to be shared at morning tea.
