QISSN Day 2

The girls first game at 9.30am was against Assisi College, where they went down 18-10. Player of the game was Merial. Our second game  was against fellow Charters Tower's team, ASSG. although ASSG won the Blackheath girls played well keeping the score to 16-4. Merial was voted Player of the Game again.  Our last pool game saw us take the court against St Andrew's Lutheran College. We knew it would be a tough game as they had  only lost to ASSG by 2 points.  The girls went out firing and played well against a very physical team to be up 4-1 at half time . The team stayed unchanged for the second half and although the opposition tried to come back, our girls played well to win 10-5. A great way to finish the pool games.  Thanks to the cheering by Mr and Mrs Fairbain, past principal Ross Thompson and 'lucky charm'  past Blackheath Captain, Morgan Rockley.

Confraternity Day 1 and 2

The Thornburgh boys have been competing in the Confraternity Carnival at Ipswich. On Monday the team had 2 games.  They narrowly went down to Faith Lutheran 10-6 with Damien Bige named Man of the Match. In the second game against Our Lady of the Sacred Heart from PNG, Thornburgh  had a win 22-4. Fred Bulsey was the Man of the Match.First up Tuesday morning the Thornburgh boys clashed with St Thomas More . While I have it on good authority that it was a good match, the boys went down 24-12. Man of the Match was Damien Bige. This put the team in the Bowl Division of the  competition  where they came up against Marist  Emerald where unfortunately they went down 24-4. Man of the Match was Lachlan Corrigan. It was great to see Mr and Mrs Fairbairn supporting the team as well as past principal Ross Thompson.
