Thornburgh Boys Confraternity- Rockhampton

Game 1
On a wet and slippery field Thornburgh boys ran onto play against Iona first time players back after 28years.  After a few dropped ball on both sides due to the conditions we saw  Mitch Fogarty dart across the line from dummy half for Thornburgh.  Missing the kick saw us in front by 4 -0. After some great defence the boys  held Iona out.  In the second half Mitch crossed the line again for Thornburgh which put them in front 10 - 0.The kick was successful.  A penalty goal right on full time put us in front 12 - 0.  A good effort by all the boys with Mitch Fogarty getting man of the match.

Game 2
With the weather much better Thornburgh boys took to the field with St Columbans.  With the other side scoring within the first 10 minutes saw the boys dig in a bit deeper.  With a great break from Brodie Land and a quick off load near the line saw Mitch Fogarty go over the try line. The kick successful and  score was 6 -4 to us.  Then St Columbans scored before the break making it 8 - 6.  After half time the boys came back onto the field in good spirits.  With the ball being passed around like a hot potato between the Thornburgh boys saw them add 3 more tries.  A great run from Connor Essex and a quick off load to Mitch saw him score again for us.
The final score being 18 - 8 to us saw the Blue Wall standing strong at the end of the first day. Damien Bige was Man of the Match.

A huge thanks to Cyndi McQueen for all her photos.
