Confro Final Game

With such a nail biting and great finish yesterday,  to take away a final win it was going to be hard for the Thornburgh Men to back up again on the last day. An in form Iona College came out firing and left the boys in the wake on a few occasions. The boys didn't give up and played a very defensive game as Iona continually hammered at their try line. Mitch scored and converted our only try after an earlier try was disallowed as a forward pass.  Although the final score was 52-6 , the boys  had a good carnival to finish 5th in the B Division...the highest finishing Charters Towers team. for 2017  Man of the Match was Sam Shadbolt.  MVP for BTC for the Carnival was Mitch Fogarty. Thanks to Coach Max Batt and Managers Adam Bowden, Steve Mirador and Andy Fildes. Also thanks to the many supporters who came to cheer the team on.

.....and a final thought from the supporters.....The boys knew this was going to be a hard game against Iona today. Iona scored the first try against BTC the boys defended well but Iona scored again leaving the score 12 nil.  Further countless defence work from the boys  and some decent runs and passes allowed a try to us.  In the end Iona were just too good for the boys  giving them the win on the last game.  The boys should be proud of themselves in the way they have played for the week and the good sportsmanship shown over the week as well.  Each and everyone of those boys have given their best over the week and should be proud of their hard work and effort to  finish in the top eight.
Well done boys enjoyed watching you play your hearts out.
